PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack-and-pinion type electric power steering device provided with a rack making abrasion in a pinion gear tooth small, capable of achieving drastic weight saving while having strength equal to or above in comparison with a rack made of an iron-based material, and lessening abrasion in the rack gear tooth. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the rack-and-pinion type electric power steering device with a rack formed of an organic fiber reinforced plastic obtained by combining a fabric made of an organic fiber with a tensile strength of≥2 GPa and a tensile elastic modulus of≥50 GPa, and a thermosetting resin.
