<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a co-generation apparatus miniaturizing an installation space of a hot water storage tank and reducing a heat radiation loss of the hot water storage tank in the co-generation apparatus equipped with a plurality of power generating units each comprising a generator and an internal combustion engine for driving the generator. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The co-generation apparatus 10 is equipped with the plurality of power generating units 12 (12a, 12b, 12c) each comprising the generator and the internal combustion engine. The plurality of power generating units 12 are connected, and the single hot water storage tank 14 is provided for storing hot water produced utilizing exhaust heat from the internal combustion engine. The temperature of hot water stored in the hot water storage tank 14, and electric power demand in an electric load 22 are detected, and when the temperature T1 of the detected hot water is a first predetermined value Tta or lower, the number of the power generating units 12 to be driven is determined based on the detected electric power demand.
