PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately discriminate whether a handover from a first cell to a second cell has been successful, by detecting that a cell assumed as the "second cell" by a mobile station UE is different from a cell assumed as the "second cell" by the "first cell". SOLUTION: A handover method includes: a step in which the first cell reports a handover instruction message containing a first cell identifier which can uniquely identifies the second cell in the mobile communication network for the mobile station; a step in which the mobile station receives the handover instruction message and then reports a handover completion message to the second cell; a step in which the mobile station reports a handover completion message and then the second cell receives the report information; and a step in which the mobile station determines as to whether the first cell identifier contained in the handover instruction message coincides with the second cell identifier contained in the report information.
