PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micrometer that can solve the problem of thermal expansion even on the occasion of prolonged measurement without greatly changing the usability of a conventional micrometer. SOLUTION: The micrometer includes: a U-shaped main body frame 1; an anvil 11 installed on one end of the main body frame 1; and a spindle 12 supported on the other end of the main body frame 1 so that it can move forward and backward to the anvil 11 and can be displaced in the axial direction. A cover body 31 for covering the front and back surfaces of the main body frame 1 is installed so that it can project outside the main body frame 1 and it is rotatably installed on the main body frame 1.
