PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a linear motion mechanism having a constitution that prevents it from being damaged during molding. SOLUTION: This retainer 12 for the linear motion mechanism has a roller holding cylinder 13 having the whole formed in a hollow square cylindrical shape and arranging a plurality of roller holding holes 16 forming a rectangular shape long in the peripheral direction on its planar peripheral wall 111, and a roller 15 rotatably held by the respective roller holding holes 16 of the roller holding cylinder 13. A recessed part 112 is formed on the planar peripheral wall 111 of the roller holding cylinder 13, and is formed as a structure for arranging a presser plate 14 in this recessed part 112. A first elongate hole 113 is arranged on a bottom part of the recessed part 112, and a second elongate hole 114 opposed to the first elongate hole 113 is arranged on the presser plate 14, and the presser plate 14 is arranged in the recessed part 112, and the roller 15 is held by forming the roller holding holes 16 by the first elongate hole 113 of the recessed part 112 and the second elongate hole 114 of the presser plate 14.
