<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sub-cover structure of an automobile, to be set in the front part of a tonneau cover which does not require a troublesome dismantling operation in advance by making arrangement so that the tonneau cover is released from the spread and tightened condition with a minor load resulting from a forward tilt of a seat when the seat with the sub-cover engaged therewith tilts forward while it sustains the load of an object placed on the sub-cover. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sub-cover 6 of the sub-cover structure 1 has one end attached to the upper part of a seat back 7 and the other end fitted with a frame 9 rotatable with respect to the sub-cover 6, and the frame 9 is furnished at the forefront with a hook 10 to be engaged with a hook engaging part 11 provided in an accommodation part 5 to take up and accommodate the tonneau cover 4 in such a way as paying out, wherein the hook 10 has a fit-in part 10a to be fitted in a groove part 11a recessed in a groove shape from the top of the hook engaging part 11 and a hook part 10b extended in the extending direction of the frame 9 approximately in an L-shape from the fit-in part 10a.
