COMPOSITIONS USEFUL FOR PREPARING FOAMED ARTICLES FROM LOW MELT INDEX RESINS

Foamed articles are prepared from a composition comprising a low MI polymer, e.g., an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer with a density of less than 0,91 g/cc and an MI of less than 3 g/10 min, a chemical blowing agent, e.g., azodicarbonamide, a scorch inhibitor, e.g, a TEMPO compound, and, optionally, a free radical initiator, e.g., peroxide. If the composition does not comprise a free radical initiator, then it is exposed to a source of free radicals before and/or during the foaming process, e.g., e-beam or UV-light. The composition is compounded and foamed using conventional process equipment and conditions.
