<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a series regulator protecting a boost transistor, and supplying desired currents to equipment using the output voltage of the series regulator even when a power supply voltage is reduced, and to provide electronic equipment equipped with the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The series regulator is provided with a control part 7. The control part 7 controls a boost transistor 4 by switching between first overcurrent restriction characteristics wherein when an input voltage is higher than a predetermined first voltage, and the voltage of an output part 3 is higher than a predetermined second voltage, output currents from the output part 3 are held at predetermined currents, and when the input voltage is higher than a predetermined first voltage, and the voltage of the output part 3 becomes lower than a predetermined second voltage, output currents from the output part 3 are decreased; and a second overcurrent restriction characteristics wherein when the input voltage is within a predetermined range which is lower than the predetermined first voltage, and the voltage of the output part 3 is lower than the predetermined second voltage, output currents larger than the output currents in the first overcurrent restriction characteristics can be output from the output part 3.
