<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image of high quality in an electrophoretic display device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display device is provided with: a plurality of scanning lines (40) and a plurality of data lines (50) provided so as to cross each other on a first substrate (28); a plurality of first pixel electrodes (21a) formed for every first pixel (20a) regulated by crossing of the scanning lines and the data lines; a plurality of pixel circuits (24, 25, 110) provided for every first pixel on the first substrate and respectively supplying pixel potential according to pixel signals supplied through the data lines to the first pixel electrodes; a plurality of second pixel electrodes (21b) each formed so as to electrically float for every second pixel (20b) each regulated in a region enclosed by four first pixel electrodes adjacent in two columns and two rows; and a common electrode (22) provided on a second substrate so as to be opposed to the first and the second pixel electrodes.
