<p>A pneumatic tire having extended wear life achieved without an increase in the weight of the tire and also having enhanced wet braking performance. A pneumatic tire is provided with a carcass layer mounted between a pair of bead sections, a belt layer embedded in a tread section, on the outer peripheral side of the carcass layer, and main grooves formed in the tread section so as to extend in the circumferential direction of the tire. The maximum depth of the main grooves is from 8.5 mm to 15.0 mm, the ratio a of a section height SH of the actual tire to a section height SHstd calculated from the size of the tire is in the range of 0.97 = a = 0.99, the ground contact area ratio when the air pressure of the tire is 200 kPa and a tire load is 50% of a load capacity at the air pressure of 200 kPa is from 65% to 70%, and an average ground contact pressure under the measuring conditions is from 300 kPa to 400 kPa.</p> |
