<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a solution of poly paraphenylene terephthalamide in concentrated sulfuric acid, which is difficult to be disposed of as general waste, in which the solution can be separated into a polymer and sulfuric acid by a simple method without requiring means such as using transportation to a distant place or a special combustion furnace; and the polymer can be discarded in the same manner as for a conventional polymer waste and can also be reused as a PPTA polymer. <P>SOLUTION: A solidified solution of poly paraphenylene terephthalamide in concentrated sulfuric acid is crushed to form a granular material having an average particle size of 1 mm or more. The granular material is separated into poly paraphenylene terephthalamide and sulfuric acid by washing it with water, acid, or aqueous alkali, which is at ordinary temperature or cold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
