<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly evaluate and verify the validity of body component design by CAE. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for evaluating deformation due to the self-weight of a bumper made of resin in mounting the bumper on the body, and for verifying the validity of the design of the body component based on the evaluation is characterized to evaluate the deformation by the self-weight of the bumper by using a tool equipped with a support part for supporting the bumper at its mounted position on the body, and provided with the following steps: S1(support part deviation measurement start prior to bumper mounting), S2(bumper position data acquisition at self-weight deformation position), S3(bumper lift-up to self-weight deformation offset position), S4(bumper position data acquisition at self-weight deformation offset position), S5(self-weight deformation data acquisition), S6(bumper self-weight deformation prediction data acquisition by CAE), and S7(quantitative evaluation of deviation from prediction data).
