<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress consumption of a battery of a battery alarm until the battery alarm is used (shipped and installed) with a simple structure such that an increase in the number of components is suppressed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The alarm has an engagement portion (3), where a pinch portion (21) of a draw cord (2) is fitted, formed on a case body (1), and also includes a shipment mode switch (4) disposed in the case body (1). The pinch portion (21) of the draw cord (2) is fitted in the engagement portion (3) to turn on the shipment mode switch (4) with the pinch portion (21), thereby maintaining the shipment mode (4). The pinch portion (21) is removed from the engagement portion (3) to turn off the shipment mode switch (4), thereby changing the shipment mode to a monitor mode.
