PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material conveying device and an image forming device capable of conveying sheets at high speed without deteriorating quality of images. SOLUTION: In this sheet material conveying device, a guide member is movably provided in a connection part of a first sheet material conveyance passage 51 and a second sheet material conveyance passage 54. When reverse conveyance of an preceding sheet S1 is started and a following sheet S2 is conveyed to the connection part, the guide member divides the connection part into a conveyance passage for the preceding sheet S1 and a conveyance passage for the following sheet S2.
