<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an area monitoring sensor capable of setting a monitoring area without connecting a terminal unit for area setting. <P>SOLUTION: The area monitoring sensor is a sensor for emitting detection light making an emitting direction different and detecting an intruding object inside the monitoring area on the basis of the reflected light, and is arranged on one side of the monitoring area predetermined as a polygonal area comprising at least three sides. The area monitoring sensor comprises: a side selection unit 62 for selecting a side other than the one side from the at least three sides configuring the monitoring area; a distance specifying unit 63 for specifying a distance from the area monitoring sensor to the side being selected by the side selection unit 62 on the basis of operation input; and an area size determination unit 64 for determining the size of the monitoring area on the basis of the distance specified by the distance specifying unit 63. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
