PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveyor member control device, image forming device, and drive control method to appropriately control the conveyance speed of a middle transfer belt even when an encoder is abnormal. SOLUTION: This conveyor member control device includes the encoder 1, a motor M which drives a conveyor member, an encoder control part 420 which feedback-controls the conveyance speed based on the conveyance speed of the middle transfer belt 2 and a target value of the rotation speed of the motor M, an FG control part 430 which feedback-controls the rotation speed based on the detected rotation speed of the motor M and its target value, a comparison determination part 340 which determines whether the encoder 1 may be abnormal or not during feedback control by the encoder control part 420, and a switch part 330 which switches the feedback control by the encoder control part 420 to the feedback control by the FG control part 430 when it is determined that the encoder may be abnormal.
