<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sand measuring apparatus and a sand measuring method capable of measuring a ratio of labelled sand particles slightly included in a large amount of earth and sand. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Sand is collected at a measuring site, and labelled sand is arranged at an initial location in this method. Sand at a location separated from the initial location is collected after a prescribed period has passed, and collected sand is transferred and imaged during its transfer. The labeled sand is counted on the basis of images obtained by imaging. Imaging is performing by simultaneously measuring sand images each transmitted through two filters having different transmission wavelength bands. When images transmitted through each filter are obtained as a first image and a second image, it is determined that pixels have been receiving light from labelled sand particles when a ratio between the intensity of pixels in the first image and the intensity of pixels in the second image is equal to a prescribed value or greater.
