<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique for mitigating pulsational sound in draining, mitigating impact noise to be made when the distal end of a flexible drain pipe hits a synthetic resin-made drain tank wall, and abolishing a helical heat exchange part attached to the distal end of the drain pipe, by solving the problem that, when a muffler is arranged at the distal end of the drain pipe for preventing noise, which is made by pulsational drain sound when a sterilizing process is terminated so as to perform draining from a chamber to a drain tank in a high pressure steam sterilizer, the muffler becomes a resistance in draining so as to shake the flexible drain pipe from front to back and from side to side, thereby making the impact noise when the muffler hits the synthetic resin-made drain tank wall and possibly cracking the drain tank. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The foamed metal muffler with continuous air holes for passing waste water is arranged in an opening at the distal end of the drain pipe inserted to the drain tank.
