PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle in which steam in a steam passage surely enters a sensor chamber, makes contact with and updates a sensor, and is smoothly evaporated without generation of a large amount of dew condensation. SOLUTION: The electric kettle includes: a device body 4 for boiling water by a heater 1, a lid body 5 of the device body 4; a handle 9 of the device body 4; and the sensor chamber 30 provided at the upper part of the handle 9, introducing the steam generated in the device body 4, and bringing the steam into contact with a steam sensor 26. The sensor chamber 30 is bifurcated from the intermediate part of the steam passage 31 for introducing the steam from the device body 4 into the upper part of the handle 9 and exhausting the steam, so that the steam entering from the steam passage is brought into contact with the steam sensor 26, and the bifurcated point between the steam passage 31 and the sensor chamber 30 and on the upstream side of the steam passage 31 is provided with a partition wall 32 extending on the downstream side of the steam passage 31 and restricting an entrance area of the steam from the steam passage 31 to the sensor chamber 30 to solve the problem.
