<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white LED phosphor material using a blue LED or an ultraviolet LED as a light source. <P>SOLUTION: This phosphor is phosphor powder comprising a nitride or an oxynitride of a metal, and has a transparent film of 10-180 nm thick on the surface of its particle. The phosphor particle is a phosphor comprising an α-type sialon compound represented by general formula: Ca<SB>X</SB>(M2)<SB>Y</SB>(Si)<SB>12-(m+n)</SB>(Al)<SB>m+n</SB>(O)<SB>n</SB>(N)<SB>16-n</SB>(wherein M2 is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Ce, Pr, Eu, Tb, Yb, and Er, 0.3≤X+Y≤1.5, 0<Y≤0.7, 0.6≤m≤3.0, 0≤n≤1.5, and X+Y=m/2), and the oxygen content in the α-type sialon powder is 0.4 mass% or less larger than the value calculated based on the general formula, and the transparent film is formed by dropping an organic metal complex or a metal alkoxide onto the phosphor particles suspended in a solvent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
