RECORDING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ACTIVATING THE SAME

<p>Disclosed is a recording device (101) able to record data on a recording medium (164) for which the initialization operation thereof is executed upon receipt of an initialization command. The device includes a control means (160) for controlling the operation of the recording device (101), and a memory means (190) which stores an operating system (5) that is executed by the control means following the completion of the activation of the recording device to provide predetermined functions. The control means (160) issues an initialization instruction to the recording medium when there is a power supply for the recording device to be switched ON, and executes control during activation to initialize the operating system in parallel with the initialization of the recording medium.</p>
