High-voltage switch

A high-voltage switch is proposed which is suitable especially for use as an ignition voltage distributor for applying the ignition voltage to spark plugs of an internal combustion engine. It has a cascade circuit consisting of a plurality of electrooptical semiconductor elements which are operated or switched on by incident light radiation. In consequence, high voltages can be switched exactly, with DC isolation between the control loop and the high-voltage circuit. The control loop can be operated at low voltage, so that it is possible to operate in conjunction with electronic ignition systems in a particularly problem-free manner. <IMAGE>
