The subject matter of the invention is a method and a unit for displaying the electrical brain activity, in particular the resting, electrical brain activity EEG, the induced electrical brain activity EP and the spectral energy of the electrical brain activity, which are applied in medicine, in diagnostics and for research purposes. The display of electrical brain activity is based on the generation of an input data matrix composed of the electric signals which are received by the sensors of the electrical brain activity, which matrix is utilised thereafter to generate an extended image matrix having a number of components whose number is larger at least by one row than the number of the sensors. The extended image matrix is subsequently displayed on the colour monitor as a topographic map of the electrical brain activity, as a coloured image or as isolines of the signal variations originating from the sensor, which are represented in the X, Y coordinate system. The unit for carrying out the method contains an implementing unit (19) to which a programmed computer (20) is connected from one side and an amplifier (18) of the biological signals is connected from the other side. <IMAGE>
