COMPOSITIONS FOR CONTROLLING THE FLUID LOSS FROM CEMENT SLURRIES USED IN WELL CEMENTING

In slurry mix water containing a fluid loss additive, a secondary additive is added prior to adding the cement, which secondary additive is capable of capturing calcium and magnesium ions as fast as they are released by the cement. The most active secondary additives are selected from the family of fluorides, and sodium fluoride is worth particular mention.
