<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device which is miniaturized, and capable of detecting deviation in the lateral registration of sheets, and rapidly correcting the deviation in the lateral registration of sheets. <P>SOLUTION: The sheet conveying device comprises a shift unit for shifting a sheet conveyed by a shift roller pair in the width direction orthogonal to the conveying direction, and a lateral registration detection sensor unit for detecting a sheet end in the width direction of the sheet conveyed by the shift roller pair. The lateral registration detection sensor unit and the sheet are moved in directions opposite to each other, the sheet end of the sheet in the width direction is detected, and the position of the sheet end is measured. Furthermore, based on the result of the measurement of the end position, the sheet is moved in the width direction by the shift unit so as to be located at a predetermined position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
