<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recorder automatically video recording only a CM of contents desired by a user, and to provide a video recording system and a video recording method. <P>SOLUTION: A reservation management part 114 of a recorder 11 allows the user to set a plurality of conditions, such as a "category", a "sponsor", and a "keyword" about CMs for which the user wants to perform video recording reservations in advance. Then, the reservation management part 114 preobtains ECG (Electric Content Guide) information about CMs coinciding with the preset conditions before CM broadcast by inquiring a server 12 about the CMs coinciding with the conditions, and can reserve the CMs as targets of video recording reservations.
