PURPOSE: A camera module for setting an actuator moving range and a method for operating the same are provided to read an intrinsic moving range setting value according to each actuator, thereby setting the setting value by an actuator control register. CONSTITUTION: A lens barrel(20) comprises lenses. An actuator(30) moves the lens barrel. An image sensor(60) converts light incident through the lenses into an electric signal. An actuator control register(40) sets the moving range of the actuator. A memory stores a setting value.
