PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and stable defect detection. SOLUTION: The wood defect detector includes: an illumination means 3 for illuminating the surface of a wood 1 to be inspected transported at a predetermined speed; a photographic means 2 for photographing the surface of the wood to be inspected illuminated by the illumination means 3; and a processing means 4 for detecting a defect on the surface of the wood to be inspected based on the image taken by the photographic means. The illumination means irradiates a light of 420-530 nm wavelength range to an inspection surface of the wood to be inspected, and the processing means extracts a defect part based on the luminance in the photographed image. Since a high contrast between the normal part (good product part) and the defect part is obtained, the determination of the defect part is performed well. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
