<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel that prevents the recording tape wound around the hub from folding back at its edges, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a reel 30 with a hub 32 to wind a recording tape T, a first flange 36 formed at an end of the hub 32, and a second flange 34 formed at the other end of the hub 32; a predetermined areas in the radially outer areas of the recording tape T wound around the hub 32 are presumed sequentially a first area E1 and a second area E2 radially from the inside, and the first area E1 is biased toward the first flange 36 side and the second area E2 toward the second flange 34 side.
