An interface for breathing assistance apparatus has a gasket portion (350-2), a pair of pillow portions with each pillow having a stalk (550-3) connected to the gasket and a cap section (500) connected to an upper end of the stalk. The cap section may have inner (550-1b) and outer (550-1a) caps and a rib portion (501) on the surfaces of the cap portions facing each other. Variously the cap may have an outer cap only; bead and other enlarged portions on both or either of inner and outer cap portions; apertures through an inner cap; and the cap connecting directly to the gasket. Also disclosed is a nasal interface with ribbed sections around a base; an interface having arms extending from a manifold and being of the same material as the pillows and a nasal plug used in a nasal interface that is formed of a foam material.
