Liquid crystal panel (11) includes a pair of substrates (18,19), liquid crystal (20) interposed between the substrates (18,19) and alignment films (30,36) provided on opposite surfaces of the substrates (18,19). In the manufacturing process, after formation of the alignment films (30,36), not only is whether any pinholes (H) occur on the alignment films (30,36) inspected but also the position of pinholes (H) is detected in the inspection step. Thereafter, alignment film repairing agent (50) is applied to the pinholes (H) to thereby attain repair for the pinholes (H) in the repair step.
