The method involves acquiring a general three dimensional model i.e. mesh, of an object, and projecting the model based on a two-dimensional representation. Three dimensional object's position information is associated to the two-dimensional representation. The two-dimensional representation is selected and positioned on the object in the image. A three-dimensional position of the object in the image is determined from the position information associated to the selected two-dimensional representation.
