PURPOSE: A chiral lyotropic perylene chromonic liquid crystal compound is provided to ensure excellent liquid crystal property and optical isomerism when dissolved in an aqueous solution, and to be used as electronic material, optical material, and photoelectric material using the arrangement of a liquid crystal molecule. CONSTITUTION: A chiral lyotropic perylene chromonic liquid crystal compound has a structure of the following chemical formula 1. In chemical formula 1, R1-R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chlorine, brome, C1-C6 alkyloxy group, C1-C6 alkyl group, substituted or unsubstituted C6-C12 aryloxy group, arylthio group, arylamine group, C1-C6 alkylamine group, and heterocyclic amine group; R5 and R6 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C10 alkyl group; and * is a single optical isomer and represents [R]-type or [S]-type arrangement.
