Provided is an echo canceller (10) including: adaptive filters (101, 102) for filtering a reference signal inputted from each of sound sources so as to generate an echo removal signal; a sound source quantity detection unit (103) which detects the number of sound sources causing echoes from the reference signal; and a control unit (105) which varies the number of taps of the adaptive filters (101, 102) in accordance with the number of sound sources detected by the sound source quantity detection unit (103).
