The needle assembly (10) of the present invention includes a transparent or translucent housing (12) having a fluid inlet (14) end defined by a cylindrical exterior wall (18). The wall delineates an annular flashback chamber (22) within the housing for retention of a fluid sample therein. The wall (18) further includes a transparent or translucent construction or assimilation of a sealed window (100) or port therein to allow immediate visualization of a fluid in the chamber (22).
