The data card is inserted into a reader that has a carrier (5) that is pivot mounted (4) and is held in the loading position by a spring (10). The carrier has a slot (7) that receives the card (21), which is pushed in against a spring (22) biased slide (20). Once fully inserted, finger pressure (50) can be applied to cause the carrier to turn anti-clockwise about the axis (4) until a lug (40) latches against a stop (42) on a leaf spring (13). Contacts (29) engage the card. Release is obtained by activation of a solenoid (46) the push the spring (43) clear. : |
