PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the contrast of a panel in a bright room without raising the cost of material and processes by utilizing the protective film which is provided on the insulating layer covering at least electrodes on the substrate of the front surface side of one pair of substrates oppositely disposed in order to protect the insulating layer from discharge as to a plasma display panel. SOLUTION: Relating to the plasma display panel provided with a protective film 31 protecting an insulating layer 13 from discharges on the insulating layer 13 covering the display electrodes 12 provided on the glass substrate 11 of one side which is at least the front side of one pair of glass substrates oppositely disposed, the contrast of the display picture of the panel in the bright room can be enhanced at a low cost without using an ND filter by allowing the protective film 31 to have the constitution in which the transmissivity of it is lowered to be equal to or small than 80% by reflecting or scattering the visible rays of light while roughening the surface of film 31 with a sand blast or the like. |
