<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene associated with the neuralization induction of a vertebrate animal, a protein of the same and also the use of them. <P>SOLUTION: This XMAN1 gene associated with the neuralization induction of animal cap of Xenopus is isolated and the structures of the XMAN1 gene and XMAN1 protein are determined. Through the functional analysis of the XMAN1 gene and XMAN1 protein, the molecular mechanism of form development by the neuralization induction in the vertebrate animal can be elucidated. Also, human MAN1 which is a human homolog protein of the XMAN1 protein, may have a possibility of similar utilization.
