PURPOSE: A method for preparing dichloropropanol is provided to manufacture dichloropropanol from glycerol, not to need solvent removal, to reduce the volume of a reactor, and to efficiently process glycerol generated in a biodiesel manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing dichloropropanol comprises a step of reacting glycerol with a chlorinating agent in the presence of at least one of a heteropolyacid catalyst and absorbent in a solvent-free condition. The absorbent comprises silica gel. The heteropolyacid catalyst is a Keggin type heteropolyacid catalyst with an atomic ratio of central element to coordinate element of 1:12.
