PURPOSE: A set-top box of an internet protocol television controlled by a wireless LAN terminal device and a method for sharing contents using the same are provided to have a wireless LAN communication function and a web server, thereby being controlled by communication with the wireless LAN terminal device. CONSTITUTION: A wireless LAN unit(110) performs wireless LAN communication with a wireless LAN terminal device. A server unit(140) receives a control command from the wireless LAN terminal device. A controller(120) executes the control command. The LAN communication operates in ad-hoc mode or infrastructure mode.
