RETAINER ASSEMBLY FOR SYRINGE TIP

A syringe tip (20) is connected to a syringe head (22) by an assembly that permits quick detachment and replacement of syringe tips without the use of tools. The assembly is adjustable for permitting or restricting rotation of the syringe tip (20). The assembly includes a tubular coupler (140) having several O-rings (260, 261) and a split collet (264) which hold the syringe tip (20) in place. Another O-ring (290) allows an outer retainer nut (52) to be removed from the tubular coupler (140) in order to remove the syringe tip (20) while preventing the split collet (264) from becoming disengaged from the coupler (140). This prevents any internal components from getting lost during the removal of the syringe tip (20).
