PURPOSE: A power train of an automatic transmission is provided to employ selective operation of first to fourth clutches and first to second brakes, thereby realizing forward speed 8 and backward speed 1. CONSTITUTION: A first planetary gear set(PG1) comprises a first operation member, a second operation member, and a third operation member. The first operation member is fixably connected to an input shaft. The second operation member is selectively fixed. A second planetary gear set(PG2) comprises a fourth operation member, a fifth operation member, and a sixth operation member. The fourth operation member is always fixed. The fifth operation member is fixably connected to the third operation member. The sixth operation member is selectively connected to the second operation member.
