The present invention is related to the image interpretation by computer. More particularly the invention is related to a technique for interpreting images using image segmentation methods. The invention is advantageous over the state-of-the-art methods since the object of interest is projected out from the background, thus providing an improved performance than that of traditional methods, also improving contrast over the images, which allows a successful image segmentation to be obtained; the form, texture and size of the object of interest is maintained. The process comprises the steps of a) removal of undesired regions; b) removal of noise; c) enhancement of global contrast; ch) combined segmentation with form preservation and d) rule classification.
