The device has a rigid internal insulation layer (1) made of PVC foam and glued to a metallic cylindrical wall (3) and a flexible insulating layer (2) arranged to form a screen between cryogenic liquid and the rigid insulation layer. The rigid insulation layer has thickness ranging from 10 to 20 millimeters (mm), and the flexible insulating layer has a thickness ranging from 15 to 25 mm. The flexible insulating layer comprises or consists of specialty polymer foam such as polyimide. The wall is made of aluminum alloy or composite material. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a cryogenic liquid reservoir of a space launcher (2) a method for protecting a rigid internal insulation layer by gluing on internal surface of a cryogenic liquid reservoir of a space launcher.
