<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator capable of easily processing the sealing for preventing moisture absorption of a gas generating agent, remarkably enhancing the workability during the assembly, and suppressing the manufacturing cost to be low, accordingly. <P>SOLUTION: A cylinder type gas generator 1A comprises a long housing 10, an ignition chamber 15, a combustion chamber 16 and a decompression chamber 17 provided in the housing 10. An igniter 30 and a transfer charge 27 are stored in the ignition chamber 15. A cushion material 51, a gas generating agent 52 and a perforated plate 18 are stored in the combustion chamber 16. The cushion material 51, the gas generating agent 52 and the perforated plate 18 are stored in a sealed state in a storage space 73 of a first sealed container 70 arranged in the combustion chamber 16.
