<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branching joint can surely prevent a bad influence of bending stress to be locally applied to a main pipe and can surely prevent a bad influence of concentration of diameter-reducing stress to be applied to a pushing sleeve piece in the case of connecting a branch pipe to a main pipe of gas piping, even in the case of connecting a branch pipe weak in strength thereof to the main pipe. <P>SOLUTION: This branching joint for connecting a branch pipe to a part of a main pipe 1 is formed of a semi-cylindrical branch sleeve piece 2 formed with a branch part 4, to which the branch pipe is to be connected, and a semi-cylindrical pushing sleeve piece 5 to be fastened to the branch sleeve piece 2. The inner surface of the branch sleeve piece 2 near the branch part 4 is formed with a support protrusion which abuts on the outer surface of the main pipe 1. The inner surfaces in both ends of the pushing sleeve piece 5 are respectively formed with a pushing protrusion part which abuts on the outer surface outside the outer surface of the main pipe 1, on which the support protrusion abuts.
