<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of an outer tube due to the scatter of fragments including a chip-off part even if an inner pipe is broken by the breakage of an arc tube in a lamp having the inner tube formed particularly with the chip-off part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lamp 1 comprises the outer tube 2, the inner tube 3 enclosed in the outer tube 2 and formed with the chip-off part 9 at the end, and the arc tube 4 arranged in the inner tube 3. A coil-like spring 11 elastically deformed from the chip-off part 9 toward a facing part 10, facing the chip-off part 9, out of the inner surface of the outer tube 2 is provided between the chip-off part 9 and the facing part 10.
