<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element capable of preventing the risk of intrusion of water into a clean side space even when the water intrudes into a dusty side space in a case. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the filter element 18 arranged along a vertical surface in a state of intersecting an air passage 17 in the case 11, an impermeable portion 18b is formed in the lower part. The whole of the filter element 18 is made of thermoplastic nonwoven fabric, and the lower part is bonded by thermo compression, and thus, the impermeable portion 18b is formed.
