<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus which can apply a prescribed amount of grease-like coating material such as grease, an adhesive and solder paste onto a predetermined part without scattering the coating material in an area other than the prescribed coating area and is inexpensive, and a coating method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The coating apparatus 1 for applying the grease-like coating material onto a material 5 to be applied includes: a grease holder 10 provided with through-holes 13; a supply grease pressurizing unit 20 which is moved relatively to the grease holder 10 and charges grease G1 into the through-holes 13; and a grease shooting unit 40 which is moved relatively to the grease holder 10 and shoots the grease G2 retained in the through-holes 13 to the material 5 to be applied while keeping a prescribed interval from the through-holes 13, by means of gas.
