PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire tread rubber composition for heavy load satisfying abrasion resistance, low heat buildup, and workability. SOLUTION: The tire tread rubber composition is obtained by compounding a 100 pts.wt. diene rubber with 40-60 pts.wt. carbon black having a specific surface area of 115-150 m<SP>2</SP>/g by CTAB adsorption, a compressed DBP oil absorption (24M4DBP) of 100-120 mL/100 g, and a value of the ratio N<SB>2</SB>SA(m<SP>2</SP>/g)/IA(g/kg) of the specific surface area by nitrogen adsorption (N<SB>2</SB>SA) to the amount of iodine adsorption (IA) of 0.95-1.30 and a 0.5-5.0 pts.wt. peptizer-containing processing aid of a fatty acid metal salt.
